Nimbus Black — secure backup, confident recovery, built for MSPs and modern IT teams
The problem

Backup should not be the service you only notice when it fails.

For most MSPs, endpoint backup quietly accumulates noise, blind spots, and cost — until a restore is needed and the gaps show up at the worst possible time.

Backup alerts get noisy

Endless notifications bury the one that matters. Signal gets lost in noise, and a failed job can sit unseen for days.

Restore confidence is hard to prove

Knowing a backup ran is not the same as knowing it restores. Proving recoverability before restore day is the real test.

Endpoint coverage is inconsistent

Servers get watched; workstations and roaming laptops slip through. Coverage gaps hide until the data is already gone.

Pricing can crush margins

Storage overages and per-feature upsells make backup hard to package as a profitable, predictable service.

Mature BCDR can be more than some clients need

Heavyweight platforms are powerful, but overbuilt — and overpriced — for protecting a handful of workstations.

Failures go unnoticed until restore time

Without clear backup health, an unprotected or stale device looks fine right up until someone asks for a file back.

The platform

A backup platform shaped around MSP operations.

Cloud backup for MSPs that focuses on the workflows technicians use every day — coverage, health, and restores — without the weight of a full BCDR suite.

Multi-tenant MSP dashboard

See every client’s backup health in one place, then drill into a single protected device without losing the big picture.

Windows endpoint protection

Protect workstations and laptops with a low-friction agent built for machines that roam between networks.

Verification & restore testing

Automated backup verification, repository integrity checks, and scheduled restore tests that prove recovery actually works.

White-labeled client reports

30+ report types exported to PDF or CSV — backup health, restore readiness, storage and compliance — branded with your own logo and colors.

Role-based team & client access

Give technicians and client users the right scope with roles, per-client access, and an access-review audit across your organization.

Immutable storage (beta)

Optional Object Lock immutability and locked retention for ransomware resilience, available in beta via the Compliance Pack.

A real look

The actual product, not a mockup.

Nimbus Black is a working platform in private beta. Here are real screens from the app — client reporting, role-based access, and per-client protection settings.

Nimbus Black · Reports Beta
Reports — 30+ client-ready report types

Generate client-ready backup, restore-readiness, storage, and compliance reports, then export white-labeled PDFs or CSV.

Nimbus Black · Branding Beta
White-label — your brand on client reports

Apply your logo and brand colors so the PDF reports clients receive look like they came from you.

Nimbus Black · Access Review Beta
Access review — who can see which clients

Role-based access for MSP and client users, with an audit of exactly which clients each user can reach.

The console

Backup health you can read at a glance.

The dashboard surfaces what a technician needs first — which devices are protected, when they last backed up, what is healthy, and what needs attention — grouped by client.

  • Protected devices & last backup — coverage and freshness per machine.
  • Backup status & health warnings — healthy, stale, and failed states called out clearly.
  • Restore points per device — see what is recoverable before anyone asks.
  • Client (tenant) grouping — every device organized by the client it belongs to.
  • Beta status indicators — clear signals for what is in active beta.

Use cases

Where MSPs put Nimbus Black to work.

Workstation protection

Cover the desktops where local files and app data actually live.

Remote employees

Protect laptops that rarely touch the office network or an on-site target.

Shared business PCs

Keep front-desk and shared machines covered — no single owner needed.

Client file recovery

Restore the folder or file a client deleted, quickly and confidently.

Backup standardization

Bring clients onto one consistent, repeatable backup workflow.

Backup offering expansion

Add an endpoint backup line to your services and grow margin.

Security

Designed for MSP trust boundaries.

Backup data is a high-value target. Nimbus Black is built around tenant separation, controlled enrollment, and encryption — with a security model you can explain to clients.

Nimbus Black encrypted backup architecture A client tenant boundary contains Windows endpoints running the Nimbus agent. Backups travel over an encrypted, TLS-protected connection to the Nimbus Black cloud, where each tenant is stored in an isolated, encrypted store with retained restore points. A short-lived storage credential is issued to the agent, and all enrollment, backup, and restore events are recorded in an audit-friendly history. Illustrative architecture — security details vary by beta build and should be validated during onboarding.

Tenant-aware architecture

Separation between clients by design, so one tenant’s data stays scoped to that tenant.

Device enrollment controls

Devices are enrolled and authorized before they back up — no silent, unmanaged endpoints.

Encrypted backup architecture

Backup data is encrypted in transit and at rest as it moves to the Nimbus Black cloud.

Short-lived storage credentials

Agents use limited-lifetime credentials rather than long-lived static storage keys.

Audit-friendly event history

Enrollment, backups, and restores are recorded so events can be reviewed.

Compliance-conscious roadmap

Building toward the controls MSPs and their clients increasingly expect.

Security features vary by beta build and should be validated during onboarding. See the security overview for details.
Early Partner Program
  • 3–6 month beta period to test in controlled conditions.
  • Early partner pricing on a 12-month agreement.
  • Direct product feedback loop with the team building it.
  • NFR licenses for your own internal use.
  • Roadmap influence on what we build next.
  • Not for untested production rollout — validate restores first.
Beta program

Help shape the MSP backup platform you actually want to sell.

We are partnering with a small group of MSPs to test backups, validate restores, and build the roadmap around real technician workflows — not a feature checklist written in a vacuum.

Where we fit

Not another bloated backup portal.

Different tools for different jobs. Here is an honest view of where a focused platform helps — and where a mature BCDR suite is still the right call.

Broad & mature BCDR suites

Powerful, full-spectrum continuity

  • Broad workload coverage, including servers and image-based backup.
  • Deep BCDR, failover, and disaster-recovery tooling.
  • Mature, proven platforms with wide ecosystems.
  • Can be complex and priced for full continuity needs.
Nimbus Black

Focused, MSP-first, beta-partner driven

  • Endpoint and file-level backup, done well — not everything at once.
  • Multi-tenant visibility tuned for technician speed.
  • Transparent beta with an honest, published roadmap.
  • Predictable per-protected-device pricing.

Need full image-based BCDR across critical servers today? A mature dedicated suite may fit those workloads better — and we will tell you so.

FAQ

Straight answers about the beta.

Not yet. Nimbus Black is in private beta. It is built for MSPs to test backups and validate restores in controlled conditions before relying on it for production client data. We are direct with beta partners about readiness as the product matures.
Secure cloud endpoint and file-level backup for Windows, a multi-tenant dashboard, restore workflows, backup health visibility, early-partner pricing, NFR licenses, and a direct feedback loop into the roadmap.
The current build focuses on Windows endpoints — workstations and laptops — with file-level backup. Servers, image-based backup, and SaaS backup are not in the current beta scope. See the roadmap for what is next.
Not in the current build. Image-based backup is on our roadmap, not available today. For the trade-offs between approaches, see file-level vs image-based backup.
Not yet. SaaS backup, including Microsoft 365, is a roadmap item and is not part of the current beta.
During the beta: 3–6 months free on a 12-month agreement, then approximately $7–$8 per protected device per month for the remaining term, up to 500 GB pooled storage per device, plus 5–10 free NFR licenses per MSP. Final pricing may change as the product exits beta. See pricing.
No. Those are mature, broad BCDR platforms. Nimbus Black is a focused, MSP-first option for endpoint and file-level protection. For full image-based BCDR across critical servers today, a mature dedicated suite may be the better fit for those workloads.
